    Rocky Mountain Regional CMP Cup Match Program

     

     

    Dates: 21-22 November 2008. 21 November is reserved for special requests only.  Special requests must be submitted with entry forms.  Suspense for all entry forms will be 31 October 2008. Please email if you intend to compete in this event to SGM(R) Herbert Maison at herbert_maison@dpsk12.org or call at (720) 423-5707 and leave message with participant name CMP number(s).

     

    Location: The sporter rifle match will be located in the school gym at 5000 Crown Blvd., Denver, CO 80239. The precision rifle match will be located in the Warrior JROTC Range, 5000 Crown Blvd., Denver, CO 80239. Signs will be posted to direct participants to the parking area and each range location. If specific instructions are needed, call for assistance.

    Who may compete:

     a)  Age Limits: Competitors who have reached their 18th birthday or are a graduate of high school, class of 2009 and those younger are eligible. 

     b)  Teams:  A team is composed of four firing members who represent the same Junior Shooting Club.  More than one team may represent a Junior Shooting Club; however, firing members can only participate on one sporter team.  Each team must be currently affiliated or enrolled with an organization that is a member of the National Three-Position Air Rifle Council: The American Legion, BSA-Venturing, CMP, Daisy/U. S. Jaycees Shooter Education Program, National 4-H Shooting Sports, United States Army Cadet Command (High School Division), USMC Training and Education Command and U. S. Navy Education and Training Command, etc...  Each team consists of four members formally enrolled in one of the organizations listed above constitutes eligibility to compete in this match.

     

    Rules: 2006-2008 National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Book, otherwise known as the Bluebook will govern the postal match.  To download a copy of the rulebook, visit this website:  http://www.odcmp.com/3P.htm

     

    Categories of Air Rifle:  Competitors may enter in either of two categories in the tournament based on the type of air rifle they wish to use.  Signs will provide instructions to each range location in the school.

     

     a)  Precision Air Rifle Category: as described in the National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rule 4.4.  This is an individual competition and will be fired in Warrior Range (an 8 lane JROTC range located downstairs in Montbello High School JROTC area).

     b)  Sporter Air Rifle Category: as described in National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rule 4.2 with the following limitations:  Sights: As described in National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rule 4.2.8

                (Sporter) and 4.5 (Precision).  The sight must be factory issue for the Sporter air rifle being used.  Telescopic sights are not permitted. 

     

    NOTE:  A Precision air rifle CAN NOT be modified in any way in order for it to comply as a Sporter Air Rifle.  Competition will be located in the Montbello High School Gym (anticipate 32 lanes). 

     

    Course of Fire:

     

    Precision Air Rifle Category: Air rifle 3x20 (National Standard Rules), 20 shots each prone, standing, and kneeling fired in this order. Highest standing position, kneeling score, and prone score, in that order, will break any tie scores.

     

    Sporter Air Rifle Category:  Air rifle 3x20 (National Standard Rules), 20 shots each prone, standing, and kneeling fired in this order. Highest standing position, kneeling score, and prone score, in that order, will break any tie scores.

     

    Conduct of Match: The match will be conducted in accordance with the current National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rules. All entrants will compete as individuals. AR-5/10 targets are hung at the start of a relay. Positions will be fired in timed stages (30 minutes for prone, 40 minutes for standing and 30 minutes for kneeling).

     

    Team Match: There is a four-member “paper” team match using scores from the individual competition. Males will compete in the male category and females will compete in the female category. Team designation must be designated on the registration form.

     

    Finals: No finals scheduled.

     

    Assignment of Firing Lanes: Firing lanes will be assigned before the start of the match and posted in the hall adjacent to the range.

     

    Targets:  Competitors use official AR5-10 targets for each class.

     

    Clothing:  All Participants will comply with the clothing guidelines specified in the National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rulebook. 

     

    Scoring: Scoring will be completed by a 3-person scoring panel in accordance with the CMP rule book. A scoring panel will complete scoring and display targets for review in the wrestling room adjacent to the range. $1 challenge fee applies to any competitor who wishes to submit a challenge to the official scoring. Targets should be ready for challenge approximately 30 minutes after the end of a relay.

     

    Awards:    1st through 3rd place team 20 inch trophies

                     1st through 3rd place 12 inch trophies for individual overall score

                     CMP Certificates for each participant.

                     Bronze, silver and gold pins may be awarded to competitors when they equal or exceed the following scores:

    Results: Match results will be posted on our web site at http://jrotc.pbwiki.com as well as on the CMP competition results page located at http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/matchResultSearch.cgi?designation=AIR. Trophies, medals and or certificates, and scored targets will be presented upon completion of the competition and pictures will be posted on the program website.

     

    Time Schedule:            Friday,     21 Nov:       4:00PM – 7:00PM (by special request only)

     

                                        Saturday, 22 Nov:        8:30AM – 2:30PM (Relays) **Change 1**

    Accomodations:  Numerous hotels are in the immediate area. Call the match director, LTC Wayne Meeusen, at (720) 423-5707 for assistance as needed. Discounts may be available if you inform the agency that you are a school program. We are only 15 Minutes from Denver International Airport.  

     

     

    Other Information:  

    1.                            Anticipate 28-40 firing points. Each club/school/JROTC unit, etc., entering teams will be initially guaranteed entry of two teams. Thereafter, entry will be on a space available, first come, first serve basis. Receipt of entry fees is required to validate entry. Ensure you site a preference day to compete such as Friday or Saturday. Friday space is limited to 16 firing points on special request only.

    2.                            Entry fees can be paid by use of a PayPal account, call for details.

    3.                            CMP Individual ID #’s .  This is a CMP Cup Match and EIC points may be earned. Participants ensure they have registered and received their respective number.

    4.                            Be at the range a minimum of one (1) hour prior to relay time. Remember, preparation time begins 10 minutes prior to relay time.

    5.                            Changing area will be available for the precision match. Changing to be accomplished off-range to expedite change-over between relays.

    6.                            CO2 and compressed air refills available for out of state competitors upon request.

    7.                            Coaches will be used as safety officers during the sporter matches.
